What a pleasure to see so many working dogs and flocks . I notice some females are certainly under 60 cm at the shoulder and few males under 63. Anyway most of them are well built and seem to do their job.
Other flock guardians around the world are relatively small (Aïdi, Berger Kabyle, Karski Ovcar, Kaliba Kutya, Sage Ashayeri, Himalayan Shepherd Dog...)
What would be the minimal size and weight for a protection dog to be efficient according to you?

To answer the first question should clarify what that means security of the flock.
For me means a suspension of wild predators to damage (loss of animals).
Does not mean fight with predators.
Therefore, the amount is not essential.
Almost no real dog able to encounter a bear or a wolf.
The strength of the dogs in the collaboration.
For me the minimum size and weight are those in which the dog has the necessary confidence to do their work.

Shepherds experience proves that this is not a very large size.Not sda however, and many small dogs.
Optimal size for me is located between the lower limit of the standard of karakachan dog and its environment.
Of course we must not forget that talk about our geographical conditions.
